We have once again secured a block of
tickets for a Bridgeport Bluefish baseball game. Come join Pack 33 for
baseball the way it was meant to be watched- in a beautiful, state of the art
ballpark where you can almost reach out and touch the players. The game is
Friday, June 17 vs the Long Island Ducks at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard in
Bridgeport, CT, about 60 minutes up I-95. The game starts at 7pm, but you need
to be there by 6pm to participate in the pre-game Scout parade (should leave
Larchmont by 5 at latest). For more information about the Bridgeport Bluefish, directions, etc., click
here.
Scouts and leaders welcome for the parade, and we could probably use a few
more parents to help with the kids. Those participating in the parade should go
through the double doors at the base of the stadium (bring your tickets!) while
spectators should enter the park normally and go to their seats. Make sure
the scouts wear their uniforms (may want to bring along a t-shirt to change
into after). There will likely be a bit of waiting around, so if it’s hot make
sure to drink some water beforehand (not allowed on field). The parade starts a
bit after 6 (so if you’re a little late, you could still make it in time – don’t
give up) and will march all the way around the field, with photo ops a’plenty.
They will then line up at the first and third base lines for the Pledge of
Allegiance, Cub Scout Promise (practice with your scouts beforehand) and
National Anthem, and the ceremonial first pitch. We will bring banners and flags
for the kids to carry..
Besides the parade, other special events include fireworks after the game,
and an optional on-field campout with an outdoor movie (see below more info).
RAINOUT? If the weather isn’t looking good, you can call the ballpark
at 203-345-4800 for the latest info on the game. I will also send an email
around if there is a rainout. If the game is cancelled, we will likely try to
reschedule. If the game is rained out after it starts, you must keep your
ticket stubs to be entitled to come to another game, so make sure you don’t
lose them.
